CAPOEIRA??
Capoeira was born in Brazil during the Age of Exploration, created by Africans brought as slaves. What began as a martial art for protection later blended with dance and music, becoming the unique and captivating culture we know today.
For us, Capoeira is martial art, dance, culture, and a way of human communication — an interactive jogo where two players connect and exchange. Through this game, we make friends, discover Brazilian culture, learn Portuguese, play traditional instruments, and sing, all while developing empathy and understanding for others.

In the 16th century, Portuguese sailors discovered Taiwan and, amazed by its beauty, exclaimed “Ilha Formosa!”
Formosa Capoeira began in 2010 as Capoeira Mandinga, organizing events, performing across Taiwan, and inviting renowned Capoeiristas from around the world. Over time, we built strong international connections and exchanges with Capoeira communities worldwide. In 2021, we became Formosa Capoeira, embarking on a new chapter while continuing the lineage of Capoeira Mandinga and Mestre Marcelo Caveirinha.
We embrace openness, inclusivity, and respect toward all styles and groups, encouraging members to develop their own unique expression. Our goal is to provide a joyful and supportive space where everyone can grow in Capoeira, share and learn together, and help build a safe, diverse, and sustainable community.
Our logo is inspired by Candomblé mythology. Iemanjá, the sea goddess, is symbolized by the moon, which takes the place of the sun so it can rest and shine again.
For us, Capoeira is the moon and our companions are the sun — reflecting, nourishing, and lighting each other with warmth.
